No signup required 5 TLDs checked instantly Social + trademark links included

Checks 5 domain TLDs via DNS lookup. No data is stored.

How the availability check works

We check domain availability by querying DNS records via Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS API. If a domain has active DNS records (A records), it's taken. If not, it's likely available. This is a fast heuristic - not a registrar lookup - so always verify with a domain registrar before purchasing.

Three layers of business name availability checking
Layer What we check Accuracy
Domain names DNS lookup across 5 TLDs (.com, .io, .co, .net, .org) ~90% accurate. Some registered domains don't have DNS records.
Social media handles We generate direct links to each platform for manual verification Links only - we can't check availability without platform APIs.
Trademark Link to USPTO TESS database for US trademark search US only. Consult a trademark attorney for international search.

Business naming best practices

Keep it under 3 words. Make it easy to spell and pronounce - if you have to spell it out on the phone, it's too complex. Check all platforms before committing (domain, social, trademark). Secure the .com domain before announcing the name publicly. Consider how it sounds in conversation: "Check out our site at..." should flow naturally.

Domain TLD guide

.com is the gold standard - most people type it by default. .io is popular for tech startups. .co is a well-recognized startup-friendly alternative. .net and .org are established but less memorable for new brands.

When .com is taken

Small variations work well: get{name}.com, {name}hq.com, or try{name}.com. Avoid hyphens (hard to say) and numbers (confusing). The variation should still feel like your brand.

Social handle consistency

Consistent handles across platforms make it easier for customers to find you. Check all platforms before committing to a name - even if the domain is available, a taken Instagram handle can be a problem.

Trademark matters

A trademark conflict can force a rebrand after you've built brand recognition - which is expensive and disruptive. Check the USPTO database early, and consult a trademark attorney if you're building a serious brand.

Frequently asked questions

How does the business name & domain checker work?
We check domain availability by querying DNS records via Cloudflare's DNS-over-HTTPS API across 5 TLDs (.com, .io, .co, .net, .org). For social media handles, we generate direct links to each platform for manual verification. We also link to the USPTO trademark database for US trademark searches.
Is "likely available" the same as "available"?
Not exactly. Our DNS lookup is a fast heuristic - parked or reserved domains without active DNS records may appear available even though they're registered. Always verify with a domain registrar like Namecheap or GoDaddy before purchasing.
Do I need the .com domain for my business?
.com is the gold standard for credibility and is what most people type by default. If .com is taken, .io is popular for tech startups and .co is a well-recognized startup-friendly alternative. Avoid hyphens and numbers - they're hard to communicate verbally.
Should my business name match my domain exactly?
Ideally yes, but small variations work well. Common patterns: get{name}.com, {name}hq.com, try{name}.com. Avoid hyphens and numbers. The domain should flow naturally when spoken aloud.
How do I check for trademark conflicts?
This tool links to the USPTO TESS (Trademark Electronic Search System) database for US trademark searches. For a thorough international trademark search, consult a trademark attorney. Trademark conflicts can be costly to resolve after you've built brand recognition, so it's worth checking early.
